What’s Inside of an ADHD Diagnosis?
Understanding what’s inside of an ADHD diagnosis can help you understand what’s most difficult for your child.
When your child is diagnosed with ADHD, the doctors look for patterns of weaknesses. Each child is unique, and your child may have one or more of the weaknesses in this checklist. Up to 40% of children with ADHD may also have additional weaknesses that fall into the category of a learning disability, often Dyslexia.
This diagram can help you talk with your diagnosing doctor, so that you can better understand exactly what weaknesses are hampering your child. When you understand what’s in your child’s ADHD diagnosis, it can also help you determine therapies or different teaching methods that can help.
